Here is a selection of images from around our farm.

Glenshea is on an ancient volcanic plain, and to the west of the property the countryside is very stony, courtesy of solidified lava flows that reach from the old volcano of Mount Rouse to our north, right down to the coast at Killarney.

However, our farm has good topsoil, making for lush growth in spring, although, like any Australian farm, a hot summer can turn the paddocks dry very quickly.

A few miles to our south is the small town of Hawkesdale, while to our north is the slightly larger town of Penshurst, home to some interesting antique shops and gateway to the picturesque Grampians mountain range that lies further to the north.

Also to our north is Hamilton, wool-growing capital of Victoria and birthplace of Ansett Airlines, one of Australia’s most famous airline companies.

South on the coast is the historic (and now very trendy) town of Port Fairy, a holiday haven, and with internationally-recognised music and arts events, including the annual Port Fairy Folk Festival.

To the south-east is Warrnambool, the largest city in the southwest, and again a popular holiday destination with plenty of good food, shopping and a range of accommodation options.

It’s a lovely part of the world to live in!
